Episode Summary:-

Jane Anson gives her personal recommendations of where to go and what to see if you only have 48 hours in Bordeaux. From visiting the building where the 1855 classification was signed, to heading out into the vineyards, Jane reveals her ideal itinerary for wine lovers.

“Bordeaux has transformed over the last 15 years.”
— Jane Anson

Running Order:-

  • Bordeaux – A transformed city worth exploring

"As a wine lover you are paying respect to the place which really changed the wine world"

Jane Anson, who arrived to live in Bordeaux in 2003, talks about why she recommends staying in the city, something she would not have recommended years ago. Her perfect wine lovers' itinerary starts in Place de la Bourse, where the 1855 classification was signed, plus a visit to Cité du Vin, Bordeaux's new wine museum.

  • Heading out to the Vineyards

"Probably my top choice would be Carmes Haut-Brion"

A short tram ride from Bordeaux city centre lies the Pessac-Léognan region. Jane recommends heading out to the vineyards to visit one of two of the region's châteaux, Ch Les Carmes Haut-Brion and Ch Pape Clement before returning to Bordeaux and finding a wine bar.

  • Day Two – Visiting St Emilion

"St Emilion is by far the most beautiful part of Bordeaux"

Jane Anson talks about why she would chose to visit St Emilion over other Bordeaux districts and recommends three châteaux to visit to understand the region's wines. She also reveals her favourite restaurant in the centre of the town, a well guarded secret.
