Wynn’s Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Coonawarra

It is often easy to forget the classics when there are so many brilliant new wines to discover these days. Wynn’s Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2018’s label proudly declares that it is their 63rd vintage, and it is certainly one to note. The 2018 vintage in Coonawarra benefited from a long, cool ripening period, and was harvested in the last week of March through the first two weeks of April. The wine has a wonderful brightness to the fruit, and is full-bodied and generous; there is a sumptuous, swirling core of classic Coonawarra cassis, firm and refined tannins, and a delightfully fresh acidity running through the wine. It’s drinking beautifully now, but will age beautifully. A wonderful vintage for lovers of classic Aussie Cab. 13.7% alc.
